WHY MULHOLLAND

An Interview With A Burglar
By Dan Locke

At the April 28, 2008 Charlotte City Council meeting that focused on crime, the deputy police chief gave some poignant crime statistics and played a video of the confessions of Anthony Ferguson, a career criminal. The video editor compiled elements of this presentation into this video.

Anthony had been a Career burglar in the Charlotte North Carolina area from the early 1980s until he was apprehended in 1999. He confessed to burglarizing over 600 homes. This video was recorded in 2008 at the time Anthony was incarcerated in a Kentucky jail.

As part of a plea bargain, the Charlotte police worked with Anthony to discover his methods. For several days Anthony drove with the police throughout his old burglary areas and he explained his strategies and methods in detail.

By watching this video, you’ll get some real insight as to the thought patterns of a burglar. And you’ll see some rather easy “home remedies” that you can use to make our burglar’s job a lot more difficult.

Lots of this boils down to “plain old common sense”. But there’s some other stuff here that perhaps common sense might never teach you.

This video is interesting, particularly after having viewed the Ofc. Lewis video, where he explains his interest in interviewing burglars and other criminals. You will see a lot of “overlap” in the things they say. You can access  Ofc. Lewis interviews on this site as well.
